Requirements

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

- Confidence in engaging with a range of technical specialists across the Digital and Technology Directorate.
- Collaboration skills to engage with colleagues and users at all levels.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience:
Candidates should also have:
- Experience working with network technologies in cloud environments.
- Proven ability in leading the delivery of cloud network infrastructure.
- Familiarity with using infrastructure as code, such as Terraform, to build and configure network technologies in cloud environments.
- Experience working within a 24/7 support environment.
- A background in delivering network infrastructure upgrades in both cloud and traditional LAN/WAN networking.
Technical Skills:
We expect the following technical skills:
- Networking expertise within cloud environments, specifically AWS and Azure (including Transit Gateway and Azure Firewall).
- Knowledge of Terraform/IaC and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solutions.
- Experience in network security for cloud environments and on-premises including firewall technologies (layer 3/4 and WAF) and DDoS.
- Understanding of Wireless LANs, preferably with Cisco APs and WLCs.
- Proficiency in working on switched (layer 2 and layer 3) and routed Ethernet networks, preferably with Cisco switches and routers.
Responsibilities
As the Lead IT Network Engineer, I am excited to share the following responsibilities:
- I will lead the delivery of technical improvements and upgrades to our cloud and on-premise network infrastructure.
- I will play an active role in the continuing migration of network services to the cloud, implementing the necessary infrastructure for all Companies House systems.
- I will work closely with the Network Architect to shape the future network strategy and design for cloud-hosted services in AWS and Azure.
- I will manage network security devices in line with our security policies.
- I will oversee on-premise hardware upgrades, such as switch stacks and wireless controllers.
- I will collaborate with other teams on various projects and troubleshoot issues that arise with network services.
- I will also support existing network infrastructure, whether on-premises or in the cloud, while participating in a 24/7/365 on-call rota.
