Requirements
Must:
- Minimum 2.1 BSc in Computer Science or similar technical discipline from a top tier / Russell Group university
- As at A-level
- Experience in a similar role in a finance / trading / hedge fund environment
- Strong technical and team leadership skills
- Experience conducting 1-2-1s, providing coaching, mentoring, and project leadership
- Expertise in modern C# .Net Core; Python skills are a plus
- Knowledge of modern software engineering best practices
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle
- Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals such as OOP, Data Structures, Design Patterns, and Algorithms
- Passion for collaboration and problem solving in complex, distributed systems
Responsibilities
- Design and implement the logic behind core applications
- Build APIs and microservices for data processing, business rules, and third-party integrations
- Oversee the configuration and upkeep of secure, reliable server environments
- Gather detailed requirements through meetings and workshops with internal teams and customers
- Shape the product vision and roadmap by providing technical insight and feasibility guidance
- Remain hands-on with architecture and design
- Instill best practices in the team, conduct code reviews, and mentor team members
- Collaboratively solve problems to help the team deliver high-quality software

We are a well-funded Fintech scale-up establishing a technical centre of excellence in the North East. As a Lead Software Developer, you will join our team in brand new Central Newcastle offices on a full-time basis. Our working hours are Monday to Friday, 0900-1800, with some flexibility. The offices are well-equipped with fantastic views across the City and local countryside, and amenities include onsite showers for those who walk or cycle in. We offer a competitive salary up to £180k, a bonus, 25 days of holiday, Bupa healthcare, and a generous pension contribution, along with continuous career development opportunities and a social team atmosphere.
