As a Data Scientist, I am looking for candidates who have a strong background in predictive modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills with expertise in SQL, Python, and R. I would like applicants to have at least a basic understanding of Machine Learning and its benefits in increasing data efficiency. Experience in e-commerce is ideal, as understanding its operations will help shape effective models. Additionally, proficiency in data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis is crucial. I prefer candidates who can communicate key messages and analysis outcomes clearly and concisely, demonstrating a pragmatic and analytical mindset. A strong academic record with a good honours degree or equivalent qualification in a numerical subject is essential. Extensive experience in complex data analysis to create proposals and provide recommendations is required. Bonus experience in credit risk, risk assessment, or statistical/MI packages like SPSS or SAS would be advantageous.
Responsibilities
In this role, I will expect the Data Scientist to be responsible for defining, shaping, and maintaining all financial modeling and forecasting efforts. These efforts will be aimed at enhancing decision-making, facilitating targeted acquisition, and driving profitable growth. The Data Scientist will undertake specialized analysis to model historical data and provide forecasts based on various industry-related metrics for diverse propositions. Conducting scenario analysis to assess risk is essential. I encourage proactive recommendations and implementations of updates to financial models during times of change. Reviewing all financial models to draw preliminary conclusions and delivering quality financial modeling advice that non-specialists can easily understand will also be paramount. Additionally, the Data Scientist will champion data quality and integrity by identifying issues and proposing solutions. Sharing knowledge and best practices in analytical and modeling processes while mentoring and developing team members’ skills will be a valued contribution.
