Requirements

Must:
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SC Cleared), you will need to possess the following skills and experience: - A deep understanding of Linux operating system internals and comfort working with Linux virtual machines or containers - Proficiency in Python (knowledge of Ruby is desirable) - Strong experience with infrastructure technologies such as databases, web servers, DNS, CDNs, reverse proxies, message queues, and load balancers - Experience building and maintaining services in the cloud (AWS) - Extensive experience creating infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation - Experience using container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes, ECS, or serverless application design with AWS Lambda - Experience supporting large production services - Git experience - Familiarity with creating pipelines in CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions or AWS CodePipeline - A strong understanding of security principles and how to maintain the security of large operational services - Previous technical leadership experience (e.g., as a technical team lead or responsible for a technical initiative)

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team developing and supporting our client's data hub, providing access to a variety of public sector data. Your duties will include: - Writing infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation to ensure our infrastructure is consistent, reusable, and reliable - Deploying and configuring observability tools to help our teams identify and respond to operational issues quickly and effectively - Building CI/CD pipelines to enable our team to deploy code into production efficiently and reliably - Providing daily support for our platform and tools to ensure they remain available, secure, and robust - Participating in on-call rotations if necessary - Solving complex and interesting problems - Sharing your knowledge and expertise with peers and the wider team to drive consistency and foster a culture of openness and learning - Providing technical leadership within the team and collaborating with other team members to identify the best approaches and solutions

Description


This is a 12-month contract position offering a rate of £675 per day. The location is hybrid, requiring you to be onsite in London two days per week, although you may choose to be at our Manchester office instead. Project work starts ASAP, and it is important to note that the role is inside IR35.
