Requirements
Must:
- Current security clearance to DV Level
- Experience with SPLUNK within a security operations centre (SOC)
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Comfortable working within a team environment
- Good understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, etc.)
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux Operating Systems
- Knowledge of common cyber attack techniques
- Cyber security certifications (desirable)
Responsibilities
- Monitor security tools, including SIEM systems, to detect suspicious activity
- Analyse alerts and logs to determine genuine security incidents vs. false positives
- Methodically classify and prioritise incidents following established procedures
- Perform initial containment actions for confirmed incidents, such as isolating affected systems
- Escalate incidents to Level 2 or 3 analysts for deeper investigation
- Create detailed tickets and reports documenting findings and steps taken
- Assist in the maintenance and optimisation of security tools to ensure effectiveness
Description
We are seeking a Senior SOC Analyst to join our Government clients security team in Milton Keynes for a 12-month contract. This role is critical in providing a 24x7 service to protect the organization from cyber threats.
