Requirements
Must:
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL
- Proven experience in database administration, performance management, and reliability
- Expertise in designing and managing backup, recovery, and restore testing strategies
- Active SC clearance due to the nature of the work
- Experience working in a highly regulated environment
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on database administration across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL environments
- Manage and optimise database performance, availability, and reliability
- Design, implement, and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies across all platforms
- Conduct regular restore testing and disaster recovery validation to ensure resilience and compliance
Description
We are a Central Government organisation seeking an experienced Senior Applications Engineer to join us for an initial 6-month contract. This role will primarily focus on database administration, maintenance, resilience, and recovery across multiple database platforms within a secure and highly regulated environment. Our team is dedicated to maintaining high standards of compliance and performance. The position is based in Milton Keynes, requiring on-site presence 1-2 days per week.
