Requirements
Must:
- I require candidates to have experience with C or C++ (at least one of these is essential), Ada, and/or JavaScript, as well as shell scripting languages, complemented by a solid background in software engineering.
- You should have experience configuring and maintaining Linux operating systems (Redhat and/or Ubuntu), including kernel configuration and testing.
- A passion for software engineering is essential, along with the ability to innovate and think critically to understand and solve complex software problems.
- Since this is a technical support role, clear communication of technical matters to non-technical stakeholders is an essential skill.
- You must be comfortable working collaboratively in a team environment, actively communicating and contributing to the resolution of emerging issues.
Responsibilities
- I am looking for a capable software engineer who can support our in-service missile-system middleware solutions.
- You will work as part of a small team to investigate and fix issues as they arise, with debugging and engineering investigation being a significant part of the job.
- I require someone with an inquisitive nature to investigate issues and discuss solutions with our customers.
- The role involves Linux Operating System (OS) configuration, support, and security solution maintenance, making Linux experience necessary.
Description
- We are a driven team with a passion for software and its successful deployment in battlespace Command and Control (C2) weapon systems, working on technology at the forefront of European missile system design. - This position allows you to work across multiple applications on both land and maritime projects in our systems software department, providing involvement in some of the most advanced missile systems in the world, across various warfare domains. - The position is a subcontractor role for an initial duration of 6 months, with a rate of £68.00 per hour, and overtime calculated at ‘time and a quarter’ for hours worked over 37 per week. - You will work 37 hours per week on a 4-day week basis (Monday to Thursday), but the nature of the role will require you to be based onsite in Bristol. The IR35 status is inside IR35 (Umbrella).
