Requirements
Must:
- Strong experience in using infrastructure as code and working with immutable infrastructure and configuration tools such as Terraform and Ansible to achieve end-to-end automation.
- Good knowledge of Programming, scripting, functional, and performance testing tools (Python/BASH/Cucumber/JMeter/Gatling).
- Hands-on experience in working with UNIX environments, load balancers, and GTMs.
- Excellent hands-on experience with observability tools (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Datadog, Splunk).
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and orchestration, including designing infrastructure deployment patterns within AWS/Kubernetes/OpenShift.
- Experience working with multiple, geographically distributed development teams to diagnose performance, reliability, and security issues in applications and system design.
- Ability to engage with development teams for a thorough analysis of system design and data flows while highlighting resiliency gaps.
- Collaboration with technology suppliers to ensure best practices are followed in interfacing systems.
- Good working knowledge of databases or streaming platforms, particularly strong knowledge in at least one of Kafka or Postgres.
- Mentoring SREs and developers to design effective solutions and promote a culture of reliability and automation.
- Ability to manage multiple high-priority efforts, competing priorities, and flexibility in adjusting requirements and schedules.
- Strong interest in documentation with the ability to document technical problems and postmortems accurately.
Responsibilities
- Join the SRE team responsible for managing the Digital Payments platform of Discover, a Global Payments network.
- Improve the reliability of platforms supporting digital wallets and high-volume transactions.
- Collaborate with the wider payments reliability teams to ensure adherence to design patterns and avoid duplicated work.
- Work closely with development teams to conduct forensic analysis of system designs and data workflows.
- Engage with technology suppliers to promote best practices in interfacing systems.
