Requirements
Must:
- Solid experience administering MS SQL in a live, operational environment
- Knowledge of maintaining high availability and performance
- Ability to troubleshoot issues calmly and methodically
- Experience working alongside other IT teams to support critical applications
- Exposure to Azure or other cloud platforms (preferred but not essential)
- Organized, self-motivated, and comfortable taking ownership within a small DBA function
Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize the MS SQL estate, ensuring performance, integrity, and availability across business-critical systems
- Manage and maintain SQL Server databases across production and non-production environments
- Monitor performance and proactively tune queries, indexes, and configurations
- Own backups, restores, patching, and upgrades, keeping systems secure and up to date
- Support high availability, disaster recovery, and data retention strategies
- Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to improve resilience and capacity planning
- Support incidents and participate in a paid on-call rota
Description
We are one of the UKs leading logistics businesses, offering a competitive salary of £45,000 - £50,000 plus a £10,000 on-call allowance and solid benefits. This role is based in Liverpool, with the flexibility of working 2 days a week in the office. Youll be joining a small and dedicated team of DBAs, taking ownership of a critical SQL estate that underpins our operations.
