Requirements
Must:
- Strong understanding of SRE principles and practices
- Experience in an SRE, software engineering, DevOps, or systems engineering role
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Proven track record of influencing change and leading large-scale projects
- Familiarity with Linux-based systems and Cloud-based platforms (GCP, GCE, GKE is a bonus)
- Strong knowledge of application architectures, messaging middleware, and network protocols
- Strong coding capabilities in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform); Java is a bonus
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
- Experience automating CI/CD processes and solutions
- Growth mindset and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- (Desirable) Experience with financial applications and trading platforms in capital markets
- (Desirable) Experience working on ultra-low latency platforms
- (Desirable) Experience in an agile environment
Responsibilities
- Lead the Product direction for improving reliability
- Define, design, and implement Service-Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service-Level Objectives (SLOs)
- Collaborate with product engineers to design testing for reliability, performance, capacity, and disaster recovery
- Lead reliability delivery and manage risks and dependencies
- Participate in on-call support and act as an escalation point during major incidents
- Conduct post-incident analyses and prioritize improvements
- Identify reliability process improvements and influence change with Product leaders
- Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market by reducing toil
- Participate in disaster recovery testing and continuous improvement
- Lead Production review meetings based on SLOs, error budgets, and incident data
- Represent SRE in architecture decisions, prioritizing reliability and resiliency
- Mentor other engineers in SRE principles and advocate for SRE practices
- Manage usage to capacity costs while ensuring reliability
- Support migration of markets applications to Google Cloud Platform
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends and develop reusable POCs
