Requirements
Must:
- SC Clearance required
- Experience in Network Architecture and Design (High Level Designs and Low Level Designs)
- Proficiency in Cisco Networking, including Routing and Switching
- Familiarity with Data Centre Networking and Cisco ACI
- Knowledge of Firewalls, specifically Palo Alto and Cisco
- Understanding of Authentication methods (802.1x, Cisco ISE, Active Directory)
- Experience in Network Management and Load Balancing (Netscaler)
- Familiarity with Cisco SDA (Software Defined Access) and Meraki
- Knowledge of Wifi technology and Remote Access solutions
- Understanding of Encryption protocols
Responsibilities
- Contribute to High Level Designs and create Low Level Designs based on approved specifications
- Configure core infrastructure components such as Data Centre Fabric, Access/Distribution Switches, routers, WAN, firewalls, load balancers, Authentication servers, and Wifi controllers
- Perform impact assessments on large and complex networks
- Conduct testing according to predetermined plans and analyze results
- Plan and execute surveys for cross/site distribution areas (Fiber), ensuring cabling power/space is adequate and documenting findings with photographs
- Install new SDA switches in preparation for out-of-hours work, which includes installation, testing of equipment, and managing the removal of old switches
Description
We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our team at a global IT consultancy working on a tech refresh project for the Ministry of Defence (MoD). This role will be based in Barrow in Furness, requiring full-time onsite presence (5 days a week). The position may involve rotational out-of-hours working, typically consisting of evening shifts from 16:30 to 23:30 for 2 weeks, followed by 2 weeks of standard 7.5-hour day shifts.
