Requirements
Must:
- Ability to work on-site at Corsham & PTP within a close-knit team.
- Solid experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS.
- Strong Microsoft Server skills (2012R2, 2019, Windows 10).
- Hands-on experience with VMware vCenter and virtualized environments.
- Good hardware knowledge and willingness to lift/fit equipment.
- Ideally, a current DV Clearance.
Responsibilities
- I will be responsible for building, configuring, and maintaining virtual machines, networks, and applications.
- I will install updates, patches, and operating systems (Windows/Linux), plus security software.
- I will monitor complex environments and troubleshoot issues across hardware, networks, and applications.
- I will diagnose issues, carry out root-cause analysis, and implement fixes.
- I will manage backups, inventories, and hardware installs, which may occasionally involve lifting heavy equipment.
- I will maintain connectivity, document changes, and ensure smooth operations.
Description
This is not your average desktop support position; it involves enterprise-level environments across VMware, Windows, Linux, and Cisco, ensuring the backbone of Defence IT runs smoothly. While it would be great if you have experience with Microsoft Exchange, Skype for Business, SharePoint, and SQL Server, familiarity with tools like Trend DSM, VEEAM, SolarWinds, Zero Clients, Meinburg NTP, and VMware Horizon would also be beneficial. Knowledge of ADFS, PKI (especially Defence PKI), VMware NSX, and cryptographic materials handling, as well as Linux and Cisco networking skills, would be a plus. Additionally, flexibility to cover occasional out-of-hours work and participate in a 1-in-6 on-call rota will be required.
