Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience managing IT infrastructure/system upgrade projects, particularly in an MES environment.
- Strong knowledge of legacy system migrations, specifically OpenVMS and Red Hat Linux (you don’t need to be hands-on, but a solid understanding of the landscape is essential).
- Experience working with third-party vendors and ensuring they meet SLAs/deliverables.
- Comfortable managing small on-site teams and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience delivering User Acceptance Testing (UAT) planning and execution.
- Excellent communication and planning skills, allowing you to keep everyone on the same page.
Responsibilities
- Own the full project lifecycle for the IT infrastructure upgrade from OpenVMS to Red Hat Linux.
- Lead and coordinate a team of 4-5 onsite technical staff, holding them accountable and keeping them aligned.
- Act as the main point of contact with the vendor PM.
- Define and drive project milestones, delivery plans, and documentation.
- Manage risk, issue tracking, and resolution.
- Deliver UAT planning, coordination, and sign-off.
- Clearly communicate progress, blockers, and dependencies to stakeholders.
Description
We are looking for a mid-level MES/IT Project Manager to take charge of a Manufacturing IT system upgrade for a major site in Towcester. In this hybrid role, you will be part of the overall project team transitioning from OpenVMS to Red Hat Linux while closely collaborating with the system vendor PM and coordinating a small onsite team. This hands-on position requires strong technical understanding, stakeholder management, and project discipline. The contract is for 12 months, starting 1st September, with a daily rate of £400-£440 (Inside IR35). We're looking forward to your interest in joining our team!
