Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience with Delphi (essential).
- Familiarity with Lazarus (open-source Delphi IDE) is highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of WebSockets and REST APIs in Delphi.
- Strong communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Ability to assess and re-engineer legacy codebases.
- Familiarity with PHP is considered helpful, but not required.
- Nice to have: Experience with AWS, Docker, migrating or modernizing legacy Windows-based applications, and exposure to C# / .NET development.
Responsibilities
- Support the migration of a legacy on-premise application to a modern, cloud-based environment on AWS.
- Work as part of a collaborative, delivery-focused team, contributing to application refactoring and rebuilding Delphi dependencies.
- Help transition legacy technology into a sustainable future-state architecture.
- Re-platform the existing application, converting it from on-premise Windows servers to AWS.
- Convert the MS SQL database to PostgreSQL.
- Remove Windows components and transition to Linux-based deployments.
- Review Delphi dependencies and re-write/re-architect components in a modern language such as C# or .NET when necessary.
- Support any small remaining elements of Delphi UI work.
Description
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer with strong Delphi expertise to assist us in modernizing a legacy application. This position allows for fully remote working and involves an hourly rate of £400 to £450 per day, with the role being inside IR35.
