Requirements
Must:
- Strong background in security engineering, SIEM/EDR tooling, and network security.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, GIAC, AZ-500, SC-100, or relevant vendor-specific credentials.
- Scripting proficiency in Python, PowerShell, KQL (Kusto Query Language), or Kibana Query Language.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to process large datasets, detect threats, and identify misconfigurations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and engaging stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Support the deployment, configuration, and management of modern SIEM and EDR platforms.
- Configure, deploy, and maintain SIEM platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel or Elastic SIEM.
- Build and optimise log ingestion pipelines.
- Manage and maintain tools including Tanium, Trellix, FireEye, Microsoft Defender, or Elastic EDR.
- Monitor security logs and alerts, investigating anomalies and understanding attack patterns.
- Provide actionable recommendations based on investigations.
- Configure and maintain Syslog servers and manage Syslog feeds.
- Deploy out-of-the-box integrations for Sentinel and develop custom connectors for diverse log sources.
- Collaborate closely with IT, SOC, and wider security teams to strengthen the organisations cybersecurity posture.
Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Security Engineer to join our team in Wokingham, working in a hybrid model (3 days per week on site). This role will last for 3 months, offering a rate of £430 per day inside IR35. Our focus is on deploying, configuring, and managing modern SIEM and EDR platforms, and we are particularly interested in candidates with strong hands-on technical expertise and a passion for threat detection and analysis.
