Requirements
Must:
We are looking for a proven self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and drive, able to lead small projects or features independently. You should be passionate about software craftsmanship, taking pride in the quality and maintainability of your work beyond just submitting pull requests. A working knowledge of Kanban-style project management is essential, as is the ability to balance new feature development with bug fixing. Experience in consultancy environments or client-facing roles is important, as you will represent the company confidently in meetings. Additionally, we want someone who has experience working remotely within a structured team setting, demonstrating strong remote collaboration practices. Maintaining and improving legacy or organically grown PHP systems, while paying attention to documentation and progressive refactoring, is key. You should also have the ability to handle long-term project commitments, preferring stability and continuous improvement over short-term projects.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will take full ownership of assigned projects, proactively driving progress, quality, and delivery. You will act as a key client liaison, participating in regular client calls, gathering feedback, and maintaining strong professional relationships. You will work independently and remotely while maintaining excellent communication with internal teams and clients. Demonstrating a consultancy mindset to understand client goals and business contexts, you will adapt solutions accordingly. You will proactively identify opportunities for improvement in custom-built PHP systems, even with limited documentation. Managing your work effectively in a dynamic environment using Kanban methodology is essential, as well as balancing feature development with reactive bug fixes. You will communicate openly and constructively, responding well to feedback and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, you will mentor teammates not just on technical skills but also on ownership, client management, and best practices.
Description
We offer a competitive salary of up to £60,000, with annual salary reviews, and provide fully remote work for UK-based employees, complemented by monthly team days (expenses paid). You will enjoy 34 days of paid leave, including Bank Holidays and your birthday off, along with a £500 annual training budget for certifications and conferences. We provide flexible working hours, allowing you to structure your day accordingly, and modern home office equipment. Our team enjoys summer and winter team days involving activities like spa days, archery, and clay pigeon shooting. We foster a vibrant environment where your ideas truly matter, encouraging professional growth and creating a collaborative workplace.
