Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, demonstrating strong knowledge of data warehousing and modeling.
- Proficiency in C#, Python, Java, or Scala.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools (e.g., SSIS) and orchestration tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory).
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Familiarity with Azure services (Fabric, Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, Blob Storage) and hybrid cloud/on-prem solutions.
- An understanding of data security best practices, GDPR compliance, and governance frameworks.
- Significant experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, SSRS).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git).
- Experience with SSAS cubes, Azure-based data pipelines, and containerization technologies.
- A full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with DAX Studio for performance tuning and query diagnostics.
- Strong proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for creating complex measures, calculated columns, and tables.
- A background in retail, hospitality, or gaming/gambling sectors.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines for ingesting and transforming data from multiple sources.
- Create and maintain models that support analytics and reporting needs, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
- Administer and optimize relational databases for efficient storage and retrieval of large datasets.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, analysts, and business teams to deliver secure, reusable, and efficient data solutions.
- Implement checks and monitoring processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data.
- Maintain detailed technical documentation for data architectures, pipeline designs, and operational procedures.
- Analyze and optimize workflows for performance and cost efficiency.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices to continuously improve our data engineering capabilities.
