Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience supporting IT at 2nd/3rd line level
- Strong technical expertise in servers, networking, infrastructure, and security
- Solid understanding of cyber security principles and best practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex technical issues
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to support out-of-hours incidents on a rota basis
- Experience with SaaS, cloud services, or hosted environments (desirable)
- Familiarity with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell, SQL, or Linux (desirable)
- Technical skills in Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy, Windows Server
- Knowledge of virtualisation, SAN, and enterprise backup
- Experience with patch management and software deployment
- Understanding of DNS, routing, VPN, endpoint protection, next-generation firewalls, email security
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex IT incidents and system issues
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions
- Maintain and optimise IT infrastructure including servers, storage, networks, and security systems
- Monitor system performance and proactively improve reliability and resilience
- Provide specialist technical input on IT projects and new technology initiatives
- Work alongside Service Desk and 2nd Line teams to share knowledge and enhance team capability
- Ensure timely resolution of escalated tickets and adherence to service level agreements
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, processes, and troubleshooting guides
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices
