Requirements
Must:
- Strong Snowflake experience (Lakehouse design, RBAC, security, cost optimisation)
- Deep dbt Core expertise (modelling, testing, macros, SCDs, incremental models)
- Solid dimensional modelling knowledge (Kimball star schemas, facts/dimensions)
- Advanced SQL skills
- Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster or similar)
- Bonus: AWS experience (Lambda, Glue, Step Functions)
- Bonus: Familiarity with Workato or similar iPaaS tools
- Bonus: Python / Snowpark knowledge
- Bonus: Data governance / cataloguing experience
Responsibilities
- Lead the migration from a bespoke AWS data platform to a modern Snowflake Lakehouse
- Modernise an existing estate and deliver BAU improvements
- Upskill the internal team to enable long-term ownership of the platform
- Work across Lambda, Glue, and Step Functions pipelines
- Move transformations into dbt Core
- Shape the future architecture focusing on orchestration, security, and cost control
Description
We are a leading product company based in Edinburgh, offering a dynamic and collaborative work environment. This is a hybrid role with two days onsite, providing a competitive daily rate of £500 to £550 for a 6-month contract, with very strong chances of extension. Our team is passionate about modernizing data platforms and we are excited to welcome a skilled Snowflake Data Engineer to help us in this journey.
