We are looking for candidates with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience. You should possess strong software engineering skills in any high-level language, with a focus on Python and C++. A deep understanding of software system reliability and risk management is essential, particularly in identifying potential points of failure and designing mitigation strategies. Additionally, you should have a good grasp of data structures, algorithms, and system design, alongside experience in navigating and improving large, distributed codebases. Clear written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and incident analysis, are also required.

Responsibilities
You will build production-grade software that powers Bloomberg's global infrastructure, design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant systems with a focus on observability, performance, and automation. Collaboration across engineering teams to introduce automated, self-service operational workflows will be integral to your role. You will conduct deep systems analysis and root cause investigations for complex, distributed systems, propose and prototype innovative approaches to reliability and risk mitigation, and contribute to design documents, runbooks, and post-incident reviews, ensuring clear communication throughout.

Our approach hinges on automation, observability, and software engineering to proactively detect issues before they affect customers and minimize manual toil.
