As our ideal Senior Databricks Data Engineer, you should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in the data engineering field. You must be proficient in Databricks, including Unity Catalog and Terraform, and have experience defining, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure as code. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Spark, and SQL is essential, along with strong experience in SQL databases and expertise in data pipeline and workflow management tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, ADF). Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and related data services is required. We are looking for excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a curious mindset that continuously seeks knowledge. Strong communication and collaboration skills, along with experience in both Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies, will be crucial for success in this role.
Responsibilities
In my role as Senior Databricks Data Engineer, I will operate within an Agile delivery environment and work closely with the Data Product Manager and Data Architect. My responsibilities will include understanding our business and product strategy to ensure data interpretation aligns with our goals. I will provide technical leadership by breaking down initiatives into features, epics, and stories balancing value and risk. Additionally, I will set standards to drive quality and consistency in solution delivery, collaborate on the design of our data architecture, and lead the build and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and ETL processes from diverse data sources, including Cloud storage, databases, and APIs. I will deliver large-scale data processing workflows using best practices, collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements, optimize data processing systems, implement data quality processes, and maintain data models and documentation. Furthermore, I will monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues, stay updated on industry trends, ensure adherence to governance processes, and provide management and technical leadership to a small team of Data Engineers.
