Must:
We seek a Senior Application DBA with extensive experience as a Senior Level Database Administrator, particularly as an application DBA for Oracle or similar database technologies. I expect you to possess excellent skills in Oracle SQL query writing, as well as proficiency in Import/Export utilities. You should be adept at solving database contention issues with application teams, optimizing SQL queries, and addressing performance tuning problems, including slow SQL and database responses. A strong background in partitioning, indexing, tablespace management, physicalizing data model concepts, and robust implementations with rollback plans is essential. You should have experience working with large, distributed, high-performance databases that maintain 24/7 uptime. Familiarity with data migration tools, as well as experience with databases like MariaDB, MongoDB, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL, would be advantageous. A proven track record in executing database migrations, upgrades, and decommission strategies at enterprise scale is necessary. Additionally, we value experience in implementing SRE practices across complex organizations, along with proficiency in automation tools and scripting languages such as Jenkins, Liquibase, Oracle SQLcl, Shell, BASH, and UNIX.
Responsibilities
In this role, I expect you to build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support our applications and data systems, leveraging hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms as necessary to ensure that the infrastructure remains reliable, scalable, and secure. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and scalability of systems through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response. Key accountabilities include:
- Build Engineering: Develop, deliver, and maintain high-quality infrastructure solutions that meet business requirements while ensuring reliability, performance, availability, and user-friendliness.
- Incident Management: Monitor IT infrastructure and system performance to identify and resolve potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages promptly, utilizing data to drive down mean time to resolution.
- Automation: Develop and implement automated tasks and processes to enhance efficiency and minimize manual interference, utilizing software scripting and coding practices.
- Security: Enforce secure configurations and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, and other threats to safeguard hardware, software, and data from unauthorized access.
- Teamwork: Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define infrastructure requirements and ensure seamless integration with business objectives.
- Learning: Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations, contributing to our technology communities to promote a culture of technical excellence and growth.
