Must:
To be successful as a Mainframe Design Engineer, you should have an understanding of the lifecycle of a loan or other products within a lending platform. You must be able to map a customer journey to specific implementations across different platforms. Integration experience is essential, along with a strong background in data integration and middleware. We value a demonstrated ability to define data provenance across systems. Logical thinking and problem-solving skills are crucial, as are good communication and presentation skills, enabling you to tailor your message for a broad range of audiences. Other highly valued skills include experience dealing with third parties and expertise in Data and Mainframe technologies, such as COBOL and DB2. You may be assessed on key skills critical for success in this role, including risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and job-specific technical skills.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. We expect you to ensure that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. You will collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration with our business objectives. Your responsibilities will also include participating in code reviews, promoting a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing, and staying informed on industry technology trends. Adherence to secure coding practices is a must to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure we deliver secure software solutions. You will need to implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

This position is based in Knutsford. As an Assistant Vice President, you will consult on complex issues, providing advice to People Leaders to help resolve escalated issues. You will identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies or procedures in support of our control and governance agenda. Taking ownership of managing risk and strengthening controls in your work is essential. You will also need to understand how different areas within the organization coordinate and contribute to achieving collective objectives. Engaging in complex analysis of data from multiple sources, both internal and external, will be part of your duties to solve problems creatively and effectively.
