Requirements

Must:
To be successful as a Mainframe DB2 System Specialist at Barclays, you should have experience with the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of the IBM DB2 product and related tools (such as DB2 CA, DB2 connect, and Data Studio). An excellent understanding of Mainframe operating system tools including TSO, JCL, REXX, and SQL is necessary. You should also have several years of practical experience as a DB2 Systems Programmer and a strong understanding of system performance and monitoring techniques. Additional valued skills include experience with Dev Ops tooling, z/OSMF, Broadcom and IBM DB2 tools, and DB2 internal and RACF Security. We will assess key skills relevant for success in this role, encompassing risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, alongside job-specific technical skills. This role is based in Knutsford (preferred) or Glasgow.

In this position, you will be responsible for building and maintaining resilient infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, utilizing hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms. Your main accountabilities will include: - Building Engineering: Developing, delivering, and maintaining high-quality infrastructure solutions to meet business requirements, ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use. - Incident Management: Monitoring IT infrastructure and system performance to identify, address, and resolve potential issues, driving down mean time to resolution. - Automation: Developing and implementing automated tasks and processes to enhance efficiency and reduce manual intervention. - Security: Implementing secure configurations and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber-attacks and other security threats. - Teamwork: Collaborating with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT infrastructure requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives. - Learning: Staying informed of industry technology trends and contributing to the organization’s technology communities to foster technical excellence and growth.
