Requirements
Must:
We are looking for a Java Server-Side Developer with the following qualifications:
- Proficiency in Java, with a deep understanding of core libraries, design patterns, Java build and testing frameworks, as well as deployment tools using continuous development and integration tools and pipelines such as Jenkins.
- Experience with RESTful API development, including the ability to design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable REST APIs, with knowledge of HTTP methods, status codes, and JSON handling.
- Familiarity with mobile app backend optimization, understanding the specific challenges related to response times, security, and data efficiency.
- Strong skills in database management, particularly with relational databases like MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL, including writing optimized queries and managing database performance.
- Previous experience in the banking industry or financial services is preferred.
Additional skills that would be highly valued:
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and experience in building and managing microservices for scalable and maintainable applications.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for deploying and managing backend services.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, and improve software using various engineering methodologies, providing business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
- Deliver high-quality software solutions by employing industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing while staying informed of industry technology trends and innovations.
- Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
- Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
Description
This role will be based out of our Knutsford office, but we are also considering applicants from our Northampton and Manchester locations. As an Assistant Vice President, you will be expected to consult on complex issues, provide advice to People Leaders to resolve escalated issues, and identify ways to mitigate risk while developing new policies and procedures in support of our control and governance agenda. You will take ownership of managing risk and strengthening controls related to your work.
We expect you to engage in complex data analysis from multiple internal and external sources to creatively and effectively solve problems. Strong communication skills are essential, especially for conveying complex or sensitive information to stakeholders.
