Requirements
Must:
- Proficiency in Java: I should have a deep understanding of Java, including core libraries, design patterns, Java build & testing frameworks, and deployment tools using continuous development and integration tools like Jenkins.
- Experience with RESTful API Development: I need the ability to design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable REST APIs, with knowledge of HTTP methods, status codes, and JSON handling.
- Familiarity with Database Management: I must possess strong skills in working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL), including writing database scripts with optimized queries and managing database performance.
- Previous experience in the Banking industry or Financial Services is preferred.
- Additional valued skills may include:
- Knowledge of Microservices Architecture: Experience in building and managing microservices for scalable and maintainable applications.
- Cloud Platform Experience: Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for deploying and managing backend services.
- Experience with Mobile App Backend Optimization: Understanding of backend optimization challenges for mobile applications, including response times, security, and data efficiency.
Responsibilities
- I will design, develop, and improve software utilizing various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions will be my responsibility, using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
- I will ensure that the code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers will be expected to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration with business objectives.
- I will collaborate with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Staying informed of industry technology trends and innovations is crucial, with active contributions to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- I will adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices will be necessary to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
Description
This role will be based out of our Knutsford office. As an Assistant Vice President, I will consult on complex issues, providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues. I will identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda. Taking ownership of managing risk and strengthening controls related to my work will be essential.
I will collaborate with other areas of work to align with business support areas and keep abreast of business activity and strategy. Engaging in complex analysis of data from multiple internal and external sources to creatively and effectively solve problems will be part of my role. I will communicate complex information, possibly of a sensitive nature, and aim to influence or convince stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
