Requirements
Must:
- I need proficiency in Java, showcasing a deep understanding of core libraries, design patterns, and deployment tools using continuous development and integration tools like Jenkins.
- Experience with RESTful API development is essential, including the ability to design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable REST APIs with knowledge of HTTP methods, status codes, and JSON handling.
- I should have experience in mobile app backend optimization, specifically understanding the challenges in backend optimization for mobile applications, including response times, security, and data efficiency.
- Familiarity with database management is important; I must possess strong skills in working with relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL, including writing optimized database scripts and managing performance.
- Previous experience in the banking industry or financial services is preferred.
- Additionally, knowledge of microservices architecture and experience in building and managing microservices for scalable applications, along with familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, will be highly valued.
Responsibilities
- My primary purpose is to design, develop, and improve software utilizing various engineering methodologies that provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
- I will be responsible for the development and delivery of high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools, ensuring that the code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Collaboration is key; I will work cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration with business objectives.
- I will participate in code reviews, promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing, and stay informed about industry technology trends and innovations.
- Additionally, adherence to secure coding practices is crucial to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions. I will implement effective unit testing practices to ensure code design, readability, and reliability.
Description
This role is based out of our Knutsford office, although Northampton and Manchester locations can also be considered. I will be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in this role, which includes risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and job-specific technical skills. As an Assistant Vice President, I am expected to consult on complex issues, providing advice to leaders to support resolution of escalated issues while identifying ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures. I must take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls related to the work undertaken. Collaboration with other areas for business-aligned support is essential, engaging in complex analysis of data to solve problems creatively and effectively. Finally, I will communicate complex information clearly and influence stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
