Must:
I am looking for a Cloud Observability Engineer who possesses the ability to lead and scale technical teams in multi-faceted governance environments. Essential experience includes familiarity with AWS/Azure cloud platforms and enterprise observability tools such as Elastic, Grafana, Splunk, DataDog, or similar. Proficiency in SRE/DevOps methodologies along with Python for automation and infrastructure-as-code practices is necessary. Additional highly valued skills include AWS or Azure cloud certifications and experience implementing AI-driven observability and AIOps solutions. A strong background in large-scale distributed systems and microservices architectures will also be beneficial. Candidates may be assessed on critical skills related to risk, controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology proficiency, as well as role-specific technical skills.
Responsibilities
In this role, I expect you to design, develop, and enhance software utilizing various engineering methodologies that deliver business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. Your accountabilities include the development and delivery of high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages and tools, ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. You will collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise effective solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration aligned with business objectives. Participating in code reviews and promoting a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing will be part of your responsibilities. I also expect you to stay informed of industry technology trends and contribute to the organization’s technology communities, all while adhering to secure coding practices and implementing effective unit testing to ensure the reliability of the code.
Description
As a Vice President, you will contribute by setting strategy, driving requirements, and making recommendations for change. Your role will involve planning resources, budgets, and policies, as well as managing and maintaining these processes while delivering continuous improvements. If you manage a team, you will define jobs and responsibilities, plan for future departmental needs, and counsel employees on performance. You are expected to demonstrate clear leadership behaviors that create an environment where colleagues can thrive and maintain a consistent standard of excellence. If you are an individual contributor, you will be a subject matter expert who guides technical direction, leads collaborative assignments, and coaches less experienced specialists. You will also advise key stakeholders on areas of functional impact and alignment, manage risks through assessment, and demonstrate leadership in strengthening controls related to your team’s work. Building and maintaining trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders will be crucial as you strive to achieve key business objectives. All colleagues are expected to embody the Barclays Values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Stewardship, along with demonstrating the Barclays Mindset: to Empower, Challenge, and Drive.
