We are looking for a skilled Senior Microsoft Data Engineer who possesses significant development experience and a proven track record in delivering complex Business Intelligence solutions using modern data platforms and reporting technologies in Microsoft Azure. You should especially be proficient in Synapse, ADF, and Power BI (Datasets and Reports), and ideally have experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS, along with some understanding of Power App design and delivery.
Your technical skills should include expertise in SQL and Python (PySpark) languages, with any additional object-oriented language skills being a benefit. A solid understanding of data modeling and data architecture concepts is essential. Moreover, you should have experience in setting up and managing code management and deployment tools, as well as possess a high level of stakeholder management experience with key project ownership.
You should be proficient in debugging, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting BI solutions across the current and older Microsoft stack (e.g., Synapse, Data Bricks, Power BI, etc.). An expert understanding of code management and deployment tools using CI/CD principles with GIT across Microsoft technologies is vital, alongside a strong knowledge of data governance and data quality management. Ideally, you would have experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, F&O, or Field Services as sources and should demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Additionally, we seek someone with an analytical mindset who can interpret and analyze complex data with an automation-first philosophy. Being Microsoft Certified against appropriate toolsets and technologies is also preferred.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Microsoft Data Engineer at BES Group, you will take ownership of the development and implementation of data and reporting solutions utilizing the latest Microsoft technologies, including SQL Server Integration Services, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, and Power BI.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with team members or directly with our business users to understand and document business requirements, evaluate options, research, and propose suitable technical solutions.
- Using your stakeholder management skills to translate business requirements into design specifications.
- Ensuring all work is carried out through environments, is source-controlled with regularity, and that deployment packages are robust and well-organized, while managing conflicts effectively and supporting the development of our CI/CD pipelines.
- Actively contributing to the highest quality of our processes and data by working closely with system and business owners to ensure a proactive approach supporting data governance and establishing best practice guidelines for code management and deployment between cloud MI environments.
- Mentoring and supporting team members and wider business users through training, pair programming, and knowledge sharing to foster a culture of continuous learning.
