Requirements
Must:
- I require strong hands-on coding experience in Java.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, or proficiency in DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines is essential.
- I look for a track record of leading teams or projects, whether as a Tech Lead, Principal Engineer, or Engineering Manager.
- Familiarity with incident management, monitoring, and resilience tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK is needed.
- An understanding of security practices, including dependency scanning and vulnerability management, is important.
- Strong communication skills are necessary to collaborate with stakeholders, present updates, and represent engineering in broader discussions.
Responsibilities
- I will own delivery within a small, high-performing team that consists of 3 developers and 1 SRE.
- I’ll stay hands-on with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, AWS, and Docker while guiding best practices.
- I will lead system design and architecture for services as well as the modernization of legacy code.
- Providing day-to-day technical and people leadership, including mentoring, conducting 1-to-1 meetings, resolving conflicts, and supporting career progression, will be part of my role.
- I’ll implement escalation and incident management processes to ensure resilience and reliability.
- I will report on progress to the Head of Technology and keep them informed with regular updates.
- Acting as a bridge between development, operations, and other business functions—such as Trading and Change—will be my responsibility.
