Requirements
Must:
- I require at least 2 years of technical leadership or people management experience.
- A strong background in Java development, including Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and REST, is essential.
- I am looking for someone with experience in engineering management or technical leadership.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, as well as DevOps practices like CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code, is necessary.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools, including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and Splunk, is expected.
- Strong incident management skills and an operational mindset are important.
- Excellent communication skills for both internal leadership and client-facing situations are a must.
Responsibilities
- I need you to engage in hands-on coding and documentation for 70-80% of your time.
- You will lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team.
- Overseeing agile delivery, backlog management, and release planning will be part of your duties.
- Ensuring platform stability through monitoring, incident management, and conducting post-mortems is critical.
- You will implement robust security and compliance practices.
- Managing vendor relationships and operational budgets will be part of your responsibilities.
- Finally, you will support client onboarding and resolve platform-related issues.

At Avanti Recruitment, I am currently collaborating with a leading, award-winning FinTech organization that seeks a hands-on Engineering Manager. In this role, you will take charge of engineering leadership and delivery as we provide cutting-edge financial technology solutions to global financial institutions. Our company has been recognized for excellence and innovation across the industry. This position requires you to be in the office 4 days per week in Surrey. You will be working alongside a small team of approximately 3 developers, 1 tester, and 8 front office staff. The interview process includes an initial conversation with the Head of Engineering, a technical and practical test, a meeting with the CTO or Chairman of the Tech Committee, and a final meeting with the CEO. The salary for this position is up to £90,000.
