Requirements
Must:
- I seek candidates with a strong background in Java development, specifically with Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and REST.
- You should have experience in engineering management or technical leadership.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and DevOps practices, including CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code, is essential.
- Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Splunk is required.
- You should possess strong incident management skills and an operational mindset.
- Excellent communication skills for both internal leadership and client-facing situations are a must.
Responsibilities
- I need you to take a hands-on approach to coding and documentation, dedicating 70-80% of your time to these tasks.
- You will lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team to ensure delivery excellence.
- Overseeing agile delivery, backlog management, and release planning will be part of your role.
- Ensuring platform stability through monitoring, incident management, and conducting post-mortems will be necessary.
- I expect you to implement robust security and compliance practices throughout our engineering processes.
- Additionally, managing vendor relationships and operational budgets will be crucial.
- You will support client onboarding and address any platform-related issues that arise.

At Avanti Recruitment, we are collaborating with a leading, award-winning FinTech that provides cutting-edge financial technology solutions to global financial institutions. This role combines technical leadership with people management and requires you to be confident in engineering delivery, incident management, platform operations, and client support. You will be working in the office 4 days per week, located in Surrey, as part of a small team consisting of around 3 Developers, 1 Tester, and 8 front office personnel. Our interview process includes an initial interview with the Head of Engineering, followed by a technical and practical test, a meeting with the CTO/Chairman of the Tech Committee, and a final stage with the CEO.
