Requirements

Must:
As a candidate, you should possess the following technical skills: - HTML5 / CSS3: Demonstrable production code and portfolio links. - JavaScript (ES6+): Minimum of 2 years’ experience using modern syntax. - React (functional components and hooks): Experience in real-world applications and component libraries. - Bootstrap 5: Skilled in custom theming and utility classes. - .NET (C#) & ASP.NET Core: Experience with integrated front-end/back-end projects. - TypeScript: Proven experience delivering fully typed React applications. - State management: Familiarity with Redux, Context API, or similar—experience in shipped features. - Git: A clean commit history, with experience in branching, rebasing, and PR workflow. - GitHub Actions: Experience with CI pipelines that lint, test, and build. - VS Code / Visual Studio: Confidence in configuring settings, extensions, and launch configurations. - Accessibility: Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and ARIA, including supporting audit/test results as evidence. - Testing: Proficiency in Jest, React Testing Library, and Cypress/Playwright, along with coverage reports. - Build tools: Experience with Webpack or Vite, npm or Yarn, emphasizing optimized bundles and code-splitting. - CI/CD: Familiarity with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps for automated deployments. Additionally, desirable skills include: - Experience with design systems (Storybook, Pattern Lab). - Understanding of GraphQL and Apollo. - Knowledge of Next.js (SSR/SSG). - Experience building Progressive Web Apps (PWA). - Capability in performance profiling using Core Web Vitals or Chrome DevTools. - Competence with Docker for front-end containers. - Familiarity with UX research methods (user testing, usability studies).

Responsibilities

In this role, I will be responsible for: - Translating designs from Figma or Sketch into pixel-perfect, responsive web pages. - Ensuring the front end looks and behaves exactly as intended across different devices and browsers. - Creating a well-documented component library using React and Storybook. - Styling with Bootstrap 5 while maintaining flexibility for custom themes and utilities. - Versioning and maintaining components through Git. - Building clean and strongly typed API calls using Axios or Fetch. - Implementing robust error handling and secure authentication flows. - Delivering interfaces that comply with WCAG 2.1 AA standards. - Achieving Lighthouse performance, accessibility, and best practice scores of 90% or above for every release. - Participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives. - Collaborating closely with team members to deliver features iteratively and efficiently. - Utilizing Jest and React Testing Library for unit testing and running end-to-end tests with Cypress or Playwright. - Maintaining at least 80% test coverage across projects. - Configuring and running GitHub Actions pipelines. - Automating linting, testing, building, and deployment processes with no manual steps. - Reviewing pull requests thoroughly and constructively while enforcing coding standards, type safety, and documentation. - Hosting brown-bag sessions on best practices (e.g. Git workflows, VS Code tips, performance tuning). - Supporting less experienced developers through guidance and feedback. - Staying up to date with front-end frameworks, tools, and design system trends and proposing practical improvements to enhance our developer experience and product quality.

We are located in Sheffield and are offering a full-time, permanent position with a salary range of £35,000 - £50,000 depending on experience.
