Must:
I am looking for a candidate who meets the following essential criteria:
- HND/HNC, NVQ4, Foundation Level qualification or equivalent in Information Technology, IT Service Management (ITIL), Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in an IT support role with team leadership, alongside a solid understanding of technical management, information analysis, and computer hardware/software systems.
- Solid experience in providing 2nd Line / Systems Admin / Helpdesk / Desktop support for a diverse range of users across a large portfolio.
- Proven line management responsibility, with the ability to plan and prioritize own work and that of others.
- Experience in IT service management, including incident and problem management, managing teams, contractors, and suppliers.
- Knowledge of supporting PCs, laptops, printers, etc., in a large business application (for example, Retail, Hospitality, Finance) in a complex organization.
- Experience with retail software and a good understanding of how it works, including setting it up (EPOS, Ecommerce, SAGE, CCTV, and Audio systems).
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems (Windows 10, Windows 11, Server 2008-2019), Active Directory, Microsoft 365/Azure Solutions, and SQL.
- Experience in working under pressure to resolve major IT incidents affecting a large number of users or multiple sites.
- Competency in Office 365 administration – both as a user and admin setup.
- Solid networking knowledge (DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN, VPNs, etc.), and experience with data backup systems.
- Experience in managing telephony systems, IP telephony, cloud-based systems, and mobile management.
- Hands-on ability to prepare for IT setups during store refits, including wiring plugs, pulling through cables, and putting up shelves.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong leadership and decision-making skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel, including overnight and weekend trips to meet operational needs.
- A current, full clean driving license and own transport.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
Responsibilities
In this role, my responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing and managing the IT support technician, delivering high-quality IT support, providing excellent customer service, and resolving all technical issues.
- Maintaining and overseeing the IT helpdesk by monitoring ticket flow, setting priorities, ensuring resolution of incidents and requests, handling escalations, and ensuring tickets meet SLAs.
- Providing 2nd line IT support both remotely and on-site while prioritizing and managing multiple open cases simultaneously.
- Training and providing direction for the IT support technician to ensure they are well-equipped to handle escalated issues.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
- Maintenance and administration of the IT infrastructure, including EPOS, server and network configuration, security, accessibility, connectivity, and backup.
- Assisting with the security of company networks and data by deploying appropriate controls and systems.
- Reviewing, developing, and improving IT policies, procedures, documentation, and best practice guides.
- Conducting regular system audits and health checks while monitoring network performance to ensure optimal service delivery.
- Overseeing and assisting with the installation and configuration of IT hardware and software, such as desktop PCs, laptops, printers, mobile devices, networking equipment, CCTV, and audio systems.
- Supporting the build and deployment of desktops and laptops and all end-user equipment.
- Guaranteeing smooth operation of all ICT systems, including anti-virus software, print services, and email provision.
- Regularly reporting to the Managing Director on IT systems status and collaborating with senior management on projects and improvements.
- Working flexibly, including out-of-hours and weekends, to address IT emergencies and ensure continued IT service availability during peak periods and bank holidays.
Description
We are a Belfast-based multi-channel retailer, Argento, founded in 1997, with 25 stores throughout the UK and Ireland. We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced and hands-on 2nd line IT Support Team Leader to join our busy Head Office Team. This position is full-time and permanent, reporting directly to the Managing Director. You will be responsible for the IT Support Technician and will work primarily from our Argento Head Office in Belfast, with travel to various sites (including England, Scotland, and Ireland) as needed. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:30, with a requirement for on-call support every other weekend, evenings, bank holidays, and peak trading periods, which will be rotated with the IT Support Technician. The salary range for this position is £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. We also offer benefits such as a company laptop and mobile, on-site parking, use of a company vehicle, generous staff discounts after a 3-month probation, an auto-enrolment pension scheme, eye care and flu jab vouchers, and regular staff events.
