Requirements
Must:
- Experience troubleshooting application issues in live/production environments
- Understanding of how applications behave across the full stack (code, infrastructure, databases)
- Experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Java or similar)
- Familiarity with JavaScript/web technologies
- Familiarity with Linux or Windows environments (e.g., Bash, PowerShell)
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or OpenStack
- Experience with monitoring/logging tools (e.g., ELK stack)
- Knowledge of databases such as MongoDB or Elasticsearch
- Understanding of CI/CD or deployment tooling (e.g., Chef, Puppet)
- Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker, microservices) is beneficial
- Comfortable working in Agile environments
Responsibilities
- Work closely with development teams to resolve application-level issues, particularly where customers are impacted
- Build automation and long-term fixes to improve reliability and performance
- Collaborate in a highly engineering-focused environment with a strong emphasis on reducing manual support
- Engage in troubleshooting and debugging live systems
- Participate in on-call support as part of a shared rota
Description
We are a growing National Security-focused tech consultancy expanding our engineering capability in Gloucester. We are looking to hire Site Reliability Engineers to support critical, customer-facing applications. We offer a salary between £40,000 and £65,000 depending on experience, a hybrid and flexible working model, and a comprehensive company benefits package. This is an opportunity to develop further within SRE/DevOps engineering and gain exposure to complex, high-impact systems in a secure environment, with a strong focus on engineering improvement over pure support work.
