Must:
- Clearance: Must hold Developed Vetting (DV) Security Clearance.
- VMware Expertise: Proven experience with VMware-based IaaS solutions, including vRealize Orchestrator (VRO), VMware Cloud Director (VCD), and NSX-T.
- Automation & Scripting: Skilled in configuring VRO workflows and automating tasks with scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.
- NSX-T & Networking: Expertise in NSX-T for software-defined networking and security.
- System Integration: Experience in integrating VMware solutions with existing systems and providing technical support.
- Documentation: Competence in developing and maintaining technical documentation and architecture diagrams.
- Continuous Learning: Knowledgeable about emerging VMware technologies and best practices.
- Virtualization: Strong understanding of VMware vSphere and SDN principles.
- Collaboration: Effective in Agile teams and able to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications: VMware certifications (e.g., VCP, VCAP) are advantageous.
Responsibilities
As a VMware Specialist, I will lead the design and implementation of a cutting-edge Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform using VMware technologies. My role will involve architecting, deploying, and optimizing virtualized environments for the Ministry of Defence. I will focus on configuring and refining VRO workflows to automate key processes, managing VCD instances including resource pools and networking components, and implementing NSX-T for advanced software-defined networking and security. Additionally, I will collaborate with infrastructure and operations teams to integrate VMware solutions with existing systems, provide technical support for issue resolution, and develop comprehensive documentation, including architecture diagrams and procedures.
Description
With over 50 years as a trusted supplier to the UK Ministry of Defence, we deliver essential national security capabilities to the UK and its strategic allies, serving as the ICT backbone for intelligence communities and military forces. This position requires working onsite in Basingstoke five days a week, and offers a base salary of up to £90,000 depending on experience. Other benefits include a monthly DV bonus of 10%, an annual bonus of 10%, a car allowance of £6,000, a 10% pension contribution with double matching, private medical cover, 25 days of annual leave plus public holidays, 2x salary life assurance, an Employee Assistance Programme, and opportunities for elite training and certification funding.
