Requirements
Must:
- Solid background in Verification & Validation within an embedded software setting
- Experience creating structured test cases from technical requirements
- Comfortable working hands-on with electro-mechanical hardware running embedded code
- Understanding of the full software engineering lifecycle
- Scripting capability (e.g. Python or similar)
- Desirable experience (not essential):
- Exposure to safety-critical systems
- Familiarity with standards such as DefStan 00-55 or DO-178C/DO-330
- Embedded development experience in Ada and/or C/C++
- Understanding of real-time operating systems
- Model-driven development or test automation
- Tools like DOORS, EWM, Rapita Suite, Rhapsody, LDRA
- Breakpoint analysis or focused code review experience
Responsibilities
- Developing robust test procedures from system and software requirements
- Executing tests in a lab environment and capturing high-quality data
- Providing actionable feedback to software and systems teams
- Supporting qualification of embedded, real-time components
- Applying strong troubleshooting and scripting skills to streamline test activity

We are a leading defence technology organisation based in Stevenage or Bristol, UK, offering a hybrid work model typically involving 4 days on-site due to project classification. We are looking for an Embedded Software Verification & Validation Engineer to join our Real-Time Embedded Software group. You will work with passionate engineering teams on a varied portfolio of complex projects, helping to qualify software and components in advanced defence systems. We offer a competitive salary of circa £64,000 depending on experience, along with a range of benefits including a company bonus, pension contributions up to 14%, flexible working arrangements, and enhanced parental leave.
