Requirements
Must:
- ECS/CSCS or other site-safety certification (training can be provided) - Desirable
- Full UK driving licence
- Previous experience in field service, installation, or maintenance roles
- Strong practical aptitude with an interest in electronics, IT, or engineering
- Knowledge of access control, CCTV, or time and attendance systems
- Good problem-solving abilities and a logical approach to technical issues
- Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, routers, switches, Wi-Fi setup)
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Understanding of low-voltage systems or cabling (RS485, CAT5/6)
- Confident using hand tools and basic electrical or IT equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or wiring diagrams
- Basic understanding of health and safety requirements on site
- Must be over 21 due to fleet insurance requirements
Responsibilities
- Installation: Fit and configure new access control systems and clocking devices
- Maintenance: Service and maintain existing systems to ensure optimal performance
- Repair: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults efficiently
- Replacement: Identify and replace faulty components or devices when necessary
- Technical Knowledge: Maintain an understanding of access control technologies and time-tracking systems
- Troubleshooting: Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Working Practices: Work independently or collaboratively while managing multiple tasks effectively
Description
We are a growing company seeking a skilled Hardware Field Engineer to join our expanding team within a leading provider of workforce and control technologies. This role is ideal for those with a passion for hardware, strong investigative abilities, and the capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality installations and support services to our customers across the UK. The position involves extensive travel throughout the UK, including overnight stays of up to five nights per week during larger installation projects.
