Requirements
Must:
- You have personally led and delivered network projects.
- You possess strong experience with FortiGate, BGP, SD-WAN, and data centre switching.
- You are confident in producing low-level designs (LLDs), performing hands-on configurations, managing migrations, and carrying out kit installations.
- You are a strong communicator, able to articulate technical details to both peers and stakeholders.
- You have experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
- It’s a bonus if you have worked with Meraki or Cisco ACI.
- You should be within a commutable distance to London and hold a valid driving licence.
Responsibilities
- You will deliver key network projects, including firewall migrations primarily using FortiGate, SD-WAN rollouts, and hands-on switching and routing in a hybrid environment.
- You will serve as the go-to engineer for complex technical issues and low-level designs, collaborating with architects and working independently when needed.
- As you undertake this role, you will be expected to lead network projects from day one, support a junior engineer, and take ownership of tasks such as firewall migrations and data centre work.
- You will work out-of-hours approximately once a week, mainly for Q4 migration work (paid at time and a half), with expectations of some continued out-of-hours support into the new year.
- Additionally, you will be required to participate in an on-call rota of 1 in 6 once you are acclimated to the role.

This is a hands-on delivery role that requires someone confident, experienced, and ready to take on responsibilities immediately. The position offers a hybrid work setup, primarily home-based with travel to London required twice a month for data centre activities.
