Requirements
Must:
We’re looking for candidates who have prior relevant experience, either as a Data Scientist or in a similar role such as academic research or an analyst. You should have strong programming skills, particularly in Python, and be experienced in manipulating data and applying statistical or machine learning techniques. A solid understanding of statistical concepts and machine learning is essential, along with experience applying at least a couple of techniques and a comprehension of how they function.
Communication skills are vital, as you will need to translate technical solutions for non-technical stakeholders and explain the value of your work. Additionally, we seek individuals who have a genuine interest in our mission, a creative approach to problem-solving, a willingness to take ownership of projects, critical thinking abilities, and a collaborative spirit that contributes positively to a mixed-expertise team culture.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of data science projects, supporting the Head of Data Science while also having time to learn new skills. You will communicate with stakeholders to understand the challenges they face in regulating advertising and translate these into technical solutions. You will work with a variety of unstructured data, including text, images, and videos, applying statistical and machine learning techniques, including LLM-based tools. Your analyses will deliver insights that inform our regulatory focus, while you will also deploy models to monitor compliance and proactively identify potentially problematic content.
Description
We currently have an opportunity for a Data Scientist to join our hybrid team in London, with a salary range of £45,000 - £60,000, and flexible working options, with a minimum of 21 hours per week. As the UK’s regulator of advertising across all media, we monitor and act against misleading or harmful ads. Our Data Science team plays a key role in this effort, responsible for our Active Ad Monitoring system, which processes over 3 million advertisements monthly.
By joining us, you will have the chance to work on current projects that address diverse topics such as influencer marketing, green claims, and responsible advertising for weight loss medications. Reporting directly to the Head of Data Science, you will collaborate with other data scientists and engineers, shaping how data-led insights and machine learning will enhance our regulatory approach.
We prioritize creating an open, friendly, and collaborative work culture, where learning and improvement are key. We encourage applications from diverse backgrounds and individuals who are underrepresented in our field. Please note that we do not have a sponsorship license and cannot sponsor visas.
