Requirements
Must:
- 4+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience in a startup environment (Seed-Series B preferred)
- Proficient in Python and/or TypeScript
- Familiarity with Azure (Functions, Containers) and Kubernetes
- Experience with MongoDB Atlas
- Technical authority in architecture, coding, and debugging
- Leadership experience mentoring engineers or leading small teams (2-6 people)
- Versatile in modern cloud-native development
- Ability to integrate AI features without needing to be a Data Scientist
- Strong communication skills, especially in delivering bad news early and good news often
Responsibilities
- Lead and code as a player-coach, spending 80% of your time on architecture, code reviews, and shipping features
- Establish a high-velocity shipping cadence, valuing iteration over perfection
- Make pragmatic architectural choices that balance speed with scalability
- Serve as the technical right hand to the Founder/CEO, translating business vision into technical reality
- Implement lightweight and effective engineering practices (CI/CD, Code Reviews, QA)
- Lead the integration of AI/LLM components into the SaaS architecture
- Drive the growth of the engineering team from its current size to 8 engineers by the end of 2026
Description
We are a rapidly expanding SaaS business offering a unique opportunity for an experienced software engineer looking to take the next step in their career. We are based in the greater London area and our role is permanent and full-time with hybrid working (1-2 days/week in-person). As a code-first leader, you will have the chance to own engineering delivery for a growing AI-driven SaaS product and shape the engineering culture as part of a team planning to scale from 2 to 8 engineers over the next 18 months. We offer a competitive salary of £50,000 - £60,000, with potential for more based on experience, plus equity in the business.
