Requirements
Must:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering role.
- Strong practical experience with Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE), encompassing deployment, operations, networking, and migration strategies.
- Proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP); experience with other major cloud providers (AWS/Azure) is a bonus.
- Expert-level knowledge of Terraform and Ansible for automation and configuration management.
- Strong proficiency with GitLab and GitLab CI/CD for version control and automation.
- Solid understanding of cloud security principles, including network security, IAM, and implementing security controls in CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, such as VPCs, firewalls, load balancers, and connecting on-premises to cloud environments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, focused on automation and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage GCVE environments, ensuring integration with existing GCP services and on-premises infrastructure.
- Migrate workloads from traditional VMware environments to GCVE, focusing on performance, cost, and security optimization.
- Implement automation strategies for provisioning, scaling, and managing GCVE private clouds using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC).
- Develop, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD to ensure rapid and reliable application and infrastructure delivery.
- Embed security throughout the development lifecycle, conducting continuous security testing and compliance checks.
- Collaborate closely with development, security, and operations teams, championing best practices in IaC, CaC, and DevSecOps.
- Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure high availability and proactive incident response.
Description
We are on the search for a Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer (GCVE Specialist) based in London, with a hybrid work model that requires 3 days onsite. We are looking for someone who not only has deep, hands-on technical expertise but also a practical understanding of the technologies necessary to manage our hybrid cloud environments. The ideal candidate will embrace a culture of continuous improvement and be able to transition seamlessly from design concepts to implementation and troubleshooting. You will be joining a team that values operational excellence and seeks to embed security best practices into all stages of development and deployment.
