Must:
We are looking for someone with proven experience as a Virtualisation Platform Engineer or in a similar role. You will need a strong understanding of virtualisation platforms and container orchestration tools. Proficiency with automation and scripting (such as Terraform, Bash, and Python) is essential. Additionally, we seek someone with experience in monitoring, alerting, and incident response tools. A passion for engineering excellence, automation, and operational efficiency is a must.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be tasked with building and maintaining on-prem and cloud infrastructure, including VMware Hypervisor, vSphere, OpenStack, AWS, GCP, and Azure. You will apply your deep knowledge of operating systems and networking (Windows, Linux, firewalls, and load balancers like Palo Alto and F5). Managing and optimizing containerized environments with Kubernetes and Docker will be part of your responsibilities. You will also develop and improve CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments while ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance across all systems. Implementing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform and scripting languages is crucial, as is promoting DevOps and SRE principles across the engineering function.
Description
This is a six-month contract opportunity based in Manchester with a rate of £650 per day. Please note that this role is deemed inside IR35, so you’ll need to use an umbrella company for this contract. We are excited to find someone who will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to automate infrastructure, enhance observability, and embed best practices in VMware Hypervisor and DevOps.
