Requirements
Must:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
- Relevant vendor certifications (Cisco CCNA/CCNP Voice, Microsoft Teams Voice, Ribbon, etc.) are highly valued.
- Full working rights in the UK.
- 3–5+ years in a Voice Engineer or telecommunications role.
- Strong expertise with SIP, VoIP, and telephony technologies.
- Proven hands-on experience with SBCs, PBXs, voice gateways, and UCaaS platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Cisco, etc.).
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, and QoS.
- Experience in troubleshooting, monitoring, and optimizing voice infrastructure.
- Exposure to vendor/carrier liaison for issue resolution and service delivery.
- Exceptional problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Calm under pressure, with a methodical, detail-oriented approach.
- Collaborative team player.
- Passionate about knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
As a Voice Engineer, I will be responsible for:
- Resolving complex voice and platform incidents escalated from our Level 2 team (Escalations & TAC Support).
- Designing solutions, implementing proof of concepts, and delivering new technical initiatives (Projects & Innovation).
- Maintaining servers, SBCs, PBXs, monitoring systems, and ensuring platform uptime of 99.999% (Platform Reliability).
- Educating Level 2 engineers, building best practices, and creating technical resources for our Partner Knowledge Base (Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing).
- Reviewing, refining, and automating systems to improve efficiency, resilience, and partner experience (Continuous Improvement).
My success will be measured by uptime, SLA adherence, and on-time project delivery, which are critical drivers of Access4’s global reputation.
