Requirements
Must:
We prefer candidates with a PhD, but we are also eager to hear from you if you have a BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or another numerate discipline, accompanied by several years of progressive post-graduate industry experience in a relevant technical field. Ideally, you have experience in some of the following areas:
- Programming in C, C++, Fortran, or a similar high-level language.
- Knowledge of computer architectures, particularly parallel architectures, including accelerators such as GPUs, and their application to large scientific calculations.
- Familiarity with parallel programming concepts, including threading and MPI-style parallelism.
- Understanding of software development life cycles.
- An interest in processing technologies, which encompasses software, hardware, algorithms, and their applications.
- Experience using debuggers and performance analysis tools.
- Knowledge of open-source software.
- Experience in a Unix/Linux environment.
- Ability to capture software requirements and create appropriate implementations.
- Software testing experience.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as bash or Python.
- Strong writing skills to effectively communicate technical matters.
We need someone who can manage their own workload, work calmly and constructively in a changing environment, and demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm, and flexibility while meeting tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
As an HPC Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Providing assistance with porting specific codes to new platforms.
- Designing, coding, testing, installing, and maintaining software modules.
- Producing suitable online documentation.
- Interacting with vendors, universities, and US laboratories on cutting-edge research.
- Conducting research-level investigations into advanced techniques for solving multi-physics problems.
- Developing relevant benchmarks to assess current and future systems.
- Maintaining awareness of current and future developments in the HPC field.
