Requirements
Must:
- Hands-on experience with Python, Django, React, Next.js, TypeScript, Postgres, and AWS.
- Proven experience in building and implementing automated tests.
- Strong appreciation for code quality and good design principles.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with a track record of building and nurturing a motivated engineering team after 6 months.
- Experience in mentoring and coaching to foster a culture of high-quality, customer-centric development.
- Capability to set the strategic direction for all technology and product development.
- Familiarity with ongoing review of platform architecture focusing on enabling fast iterations and scalability.
Responsibilities
As the Lead Engineer, I will hold a key leadership position within our executive team. My primary responsibilities will include providing first-class technical leadership and, together with a growing team, creating a compelling product vision and roadmap. I will ensure that our technical platform and associated systems adhere to the highest standards of security, compatibility, reliability, and performance. Additionally, I will maintain and refresh the product roadmap by identifying product issues and resolutions by engaging with customers to uncover new opportunities and developments. Initially, I will be the sole developer for an already successful product, responsible for making data accessible to the business and our customers, while meeting data and security standards to ensure high uptime. Furthermore, as part of our senior leadership team, I will help nurture our company values and play a significant role in the vision and development of our core product.

We are a well-backed Green-Tech startup based in Bristol, and we are excited to scale up our team. Our mission is to repair the planet by enabling individuals and businesses to fund projects addressing the crises of carbon, biodiversity, and waste. The product I will be working on aims to drive meaningful climate activism and action, including efforts in restoring nature, carbon removal, reducing electronic waste, and removing plastic from our oceans. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop a platform that leverages data, AI, and API integration, providing customers with easily accessible insights and tools to support their investments in carbon and biodiversity. This position requires a commitment of 2-3 days per week at our central Bristol office.
