Requirements
Must:
- A strong background in IBM i (iSeries) Systems Management & Administration.
- Experience with Backup & Recovery on IBM i systems.
- Working knowledge of IBM MQ Series.
- Proficiency in Query, SQL, and Database Management.
- Hands-on skills in CL and RPG programming.
- Experience with JD Edwards is highly beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving ability, along with excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work across teams and vendors, balancing business-as-usual support with project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Administer and support IBM iSeries systems, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and reliability, including out-of-hours support.
- Manage and execute regular data refreshes to maintain data integrity and accuracy across environments.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance CL and RPG programmes to automate processes and improve system functionality.
- Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation covering configurations, procedures, and best practices.
- Collaborate with internal SMEs and external vendors to deliver IT solutions on time, within budget, and to specification.

We are seeking a Technical Specialist for the IBM i (iSeries) System Administrator / Data Engineer role in Hemel Hempstead, offering a hybrid work arrangement of four days in the office and one day at home. This dual-role position combines hands-on system administration with data engineering and project delivery, ensuring that we meet our business needs with robust, scalable, and future-ready solutions. As part of our team, you will work closely with corporate stakeholders, divisional experts, and third-party IT vendors to optimize IBM iSeries environments for performance, availability, and resilience. You will also contribute to wider IT transformation projects. This is an exciting opportunity to blend system administration and IT project delivery while playing a key role in shaping technology solutions that underpin our business.
